Role Overview

This role is primarily focused on preparing accurate weld maps and QA documentation directly from shop drawings, welding procedures, and project specifications, including maintaining QA records.

As the role develops, there is strong potential to expand into material take-offs, drafting, and broader project support, depending on capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare weld maps from structural steel shop drawings and mark-up weld details clearly
• Compile and organise QA documentation packages (ITPs, weld records, traceability, etc.)
• Review drawings to ensure all welds and relevant QA items are captured accurately
• Maintain and file QA records in an organised and consistent format
• Liaise with the project team to clarify drawing or QA requirements where needed

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings
• Good understanding of welding symbols and weld call-outs
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to follow processes and work under direction
• Good written and verbal English communication skills

Preferred Experience (Not Essential)

• Experience preparing weld maps or QA documentation in a fabrication environment
• Exposure to structural steel fabrication or construction projects
• Experience in structural steel drafting

Software Skills

• AutoCAD (2D) – preferred
• Microsoft Excel
• Bluebeam Revu / PDF mark-up tools
• Adobe Acrobat
• General Microsoft Office Suite
• Tekla experience is an advantage but not required

Future Scope (Based on Performance)

• Material take-offs for estimating
• Assisting with basic shop drawings
• Broader QA and project support tasks
