Financial Accountant
Job Description:
Purpose of the Position
- The Financial Accountant will provide financial accounting support to the Finance team, including preparing BAS and Fringe Benefit Tax returns and ensuring that all components of the consolidated financial statements are completed accurately and on time.
Roles and Responsibilities
FinancialAccounting
- Administer balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements for the Corporate Group
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns for the family group(s)
- Manage and administer Group Fixed Asset Management system Hardcat. Oversee asset additions, asset depreciation and disposals for both accounting and tax purposes.
- Calculation of monthly work in progress, contract assets and contract liabilities.
- Assist with companies' Insurance renewals
- Assist with companies' Licence renewals
- Assist with annual external audit
- Provide financial analysis as directed by the Group Manager - Finance o Identify initiatives that align to the business and risk strategy of the client
Tax
- Administration of all fringe benefits tax (FBT) requirements including monthly entertainment accounts analysis
- Preparation of annual FBT return
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly IAS and BAS reconciliations and returns
- Support the Group Manager - Finance with all other tax matter as required

Person Specification
Mandatory Knowledge & Experience
- 5+ years' experience working as a financial accountant for Australian entities
- An understanding of all Australian taxes (FBT, GST & Income tax, etc)
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft
- Understanding of ERP Systems
- Bachelor of Accounting or similar
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
- Recently completed, currently working towards or an appetite to commence the following qualifications:
- CA or CPA
