We work in a cloud-based ecosystem (Xero, Dext, Hubdoc, QuickBooks Online, MYOB, Square and related apps) and are known for our structured, compliance-driven approach to helping clients fix, stabilise and clarify their financial position.

Role Purpose

The Junior Accountant / Junior Bookkeeper supports the delivery of accurate, compliant and timely bookkeeping and payroll services to our clients.

This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who enjoys structure, systems and learning, and who wants to build strong technical foundations in bookkeeping, payroll and BAS compliance under the guidance of senior team members.

Key Responsibilities 

Bookkeeping & Accounting Support

  • Process day-to-day bookkeeping transactions in Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks Online
  • Code bank transactions, supplier bills and receipts accurately
  • Reconcile bank, credit card and loan accounts
  • Maintain clean and well-supported balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end reconciliations

Payroll Support

  • Assist with payroll processing for multiple clients
  • Set up and maintain employees in payroll systems
  • Process pays, allowances, superannuation and leave
  • Assist with STP reporting and payroll reconciliations
  • Identify and escalate payroll discrepancies or compliance issues

BAS & Compliance Support

  • Assist in preparing BAS and IAS workpapers
  • Ensure GST coding is accurate and compliant with Australian laws.
  • Support lodgement processes under BAS Agent supervision
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and client files

Client & Practice Support

  • Respond to internal and client queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Follow documented systems, checklists and quality control processes
  • Assist with onboarding new clients and setting up software integrations
  • Maintain accurate records in practice management systems (e.g. Asana)

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or similar with clear understanding of debits and credits on ledgers.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles
  • Comfortable using cloud-based software and learning new systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow processes, checklists and instructions

Desirable

  • Experience using Xero and/or QuickBooks Online
  • Exposure to payroll processing
  • Experience with Dext, Hubdoc or similar receipt-capture tools
  • Experience in a bookkeeping or accounting practice environment
  • Interest in hospitality or small business clients
